"placed" is geen Magicterm, maar een gewoon Engels woord. Je plaatst 4 -1/-1 counters, dus je krijgt 4 tokens.

Hey allemaal,
Flourishing defense geeft een 1/1 elf token, als er een -1-1 counter op een creature komt. Als deze in het spel komt, tellen deze dan als 4 aparte counters die erop worden geplaatst? dus 4 tokens?

If there are no -1/-1 counters on it when the triggered ability resolves, the ability does nothing. There is no penalty for not being able to remove a counter.
