Je cast Sea-Dasher Octopus voor zijn Mutate cost.

702.140a Mutate appears on some creature cards. It represents a static ability that functions while the spell with mutate is on the stack. “Mutate [cost]” means “You may pay [cost] rather than pay this spell's mana cost. If you do, it becomes a mutating creature spell and targets a nonHuman creature with the same owner as this spell.”

Volo, Guide to Monsters triggered omdat de Octopus een unieke creaturetype heeft en kopiëert de Mutating Creature Spell (dat onder "creature spell" valt).

707.10 [...] A copy of a spell or ability copies both the characteristics of the spell or ability and all decisions made for it, including modes, targets, the value of X, and additional or alternative costs. (See rule 601, “Casting Spells.'')

Je mag targets niet wijzigen (zoals Reverberate dat wel kan) en je kopie merged dan met de originele target.

Evoke idem dito, het is een alternatieve cost dat meegekopiëerd wordt.

Stel je speelt Sea-Dasher Octopus via de mutate. Ik heb geen octopus bij cast in play or graveyard. Wat krijg ik dan als copy? Hoe zit dit ook bij een evoked creature Mulldrifter?
