Dat gaat niet werken. Elite Scaleguard triggered alleen als een beest al een counter heeft op het moment dat hij aanvalt, en Gleam of Battle geeft pas een counter nadat het beest aanvalt. Als een beest zonder counter aanvalt krijgt hij dus wel een een counter van Gleam of Battle, maar dat is te laat om Elite Scaleguard nog te triggeren.
(Als een beest dat al een counter heeft aanvalt mag je wel kiezen in welke volgorde je beide triggers laat afgaan, maar daar heb je verder vrij weinig aan.)

als ik Gleam of Battle heb liggen mag ik dan de volgorde van triggers bepalen? dus eerst Gleam of Battle dan Elite Scaleguard voor optimaal effect

Bolster itself doesn't target any creature, though some spells and abilities that bolster may have other effects that target creatures. For example, you could put counters on a creature with protection from white with Abzan Skycaptain's bolster ability.
