Behalve dat Three Kingdoms gebaseerd is op historische feiten:

"From ancient times until the Sui Dynasty, castration was both a traditional punishment (one of the Five Punishments) and a means of gaining employment in the Imperial service. Eunuchs waren geschikt om in hoerenhuizen te laten werken zonder dat men bang hoefde te zijn dat ze met hun vingers aan de "merchandise" zouden gaan zitten. Corruptie zal hem wellicht gezeten hebben in het doorspelen van informatie over de klandizie, zeker als die rijk en hooggeplaatst was.
