Omschrijving:

(Full Ravnica cube - Nassim Ketita)

I felt that Selesnya was the best guild in Return to Ravnica because of its speed and ability to generate card advantage through the populate mechanic. Generating a lot of tokens works quite well with the convoke mechanic from Ravnica, so I see the two sets integrating well. Much like Golgari, Selesnya suffers from the inability to splash a third color and still have a guild in each pack. The problem is actually worse here since there are no three-color combinations with white and green that give you a guild in each pack. Again, I'm hoping the power level of the non-guild cards will make up for this.

Once again, we need to make a few cuts. Unsurprisingly, we're going to cut the 8-mana guild leader, as Chorus of the Conclave is pretty bad. Even if you do manage to cast it, by that point of the game, you're not likely going to be able to use the ability very often. Next on the chopping block are Watchwolf and Loxodon Smiter. They are sweet cards, but the only thing special about them is that they are undercosted—beyond that, they're just vanilla (or close enough for the Smiter) creatures. Call of the Conclave does the same thing as Watchwolf but better. The other cuts are Chord of Calling, Trostani's Judgment, Growing Ranks, and Hour of Reckoning.

There were a couple Return to Ravnicacards I managed to sneak back in. Loxodon Smiter was among my last cuts previously, and it was easy to include him this time. I wanted to add a pump spell, and I felt that Common Bond was the best available option, although I was close to including Gather Courage as well. I was a little sad when I cut Siege Wurm, as it was one of my pet cards back in the day, but these new-fangled creatures are just better.
